Summer PWM internship?
I am a freshman at a semi target and could possibly have an internship with Merrill Lynch or a similar company this summer in wealth management. I am wondering if taking a PWM gig will be hurting my chances for BB IBD internships later on? Like does it look bad to work in wealth management when you want to do IB?
*That tag just popped up, has nothing to do with me.
no. firms know that as a freshman you are pretty limited to such internships (ie PWM). Having a BB PWM title on your resume as a freshman is definitely a positive and shows a great deal of maturity and determination at a young age. I did it as a sophomore and its one of my more vocal points on my resume (im a junior now). When there, network, network, network. I met some great people there (some ex-IB'ers) who have been helping me a great deal. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions/concerns
cool, thanks.
PWM is often the first thing that a lot of people get on the resume in order to get some kind of exposure and make the case that they're serious about finance. Once you're in, it becomes a platform to network / apply to the next thing. In this economy, take EVERYTHING you can get....the competition is brutal.
I feel like everyone does PWM freshman year
Nah, it'll help you a lot. If you go to school in a decent-sized city, it wouldn't be a bad idea to do it during the school year. I did a PWM internship this fall for
