1st Year Analyst Compensation across the Street
I'm working for JP and get 70k base, I was wondering what everyone else is getting. This is for Sales and Trading.
Also, what are the year-end bonuses like for 1st year Analysts in S&T?

S&T and IB are in line.
Base for 1st years is 70K across the street with 10K bump every year.
Analyst1- 70K Analyst2- 80K Analyst3- 90K
Bonus should be 80-120% of base.
Damn that's a lot of money
What are average bonuses expected to be this year at BBs for IBD first year analysts? 80-120% of 70k seems way too much...
seems high to me as well.
Seems high to a prospective monkeys? Well that means a lot.
From what I've seen/heard the brunt of the bonus pain (atleast at a JR level) was felt in the last bonus cycle. Deal flow is opening up, the worst of the financial crisis seems to be over, its no longer doom and gloom. The bonus scrutiny has/will continue to die down a bit. Holiday parties will be back in action but perhaps not catered by Masa.
Historically, we would have seen Analyst1 getting bonuses of 100-200% of base. 80-120% is still VERY low comparably. You're looking at analyst with bonuses between 56K to 84K. When its all said and done, this will be proven to be very conservative.
Juniors took a hit last year because of the dire state of the financial markets and the banks paying bonuses in addition to the media scrutiny of bonuses (obviously plays a bigger role at upper levels but the aggregate bonuses paid out still gets impacted by us Analysts/Associates). That is not longer a viable concern. A bank doesn't have to choose between staying solvent and paying 1,000 analysts 150K.
If I read dealbreaker correctly, Barcap S&T is staying at 60k while IBD was bumped to 70k. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Hot damn Marcus, I hope you're right. I would be happy even with a $30k bonus. $100k for first year compensation is still more than any other job out of college. Gotta love finnnnance.
Though it may be true that new 1st year S&T analysts will be getting an 80-120% bonus, won't the first year just be a $10k-20k stub anyway?
And don't forget about taxes. -30% of 100K = 70K cash left.
.
friend of mine said ubs also does 10k sign, 70k base. don't know if he's s&t or ibd though
Anyone seeing any other places +70k base? There are definitely some out there... Anyone seeing 75k or 80k base?
GS IB for the next year is 70k base + 10k sign. This year UBS is 60k + 10k sign. Not sure if if UBS increased for this next year...assuming that they're hiring for next year after delaying last years class until March
i'm seeing 75k + 10k at elite boutique
