Any fans of Instagram Finance Memes? (Arbitrage Andy, Litquidity, NYFB)
Wanted to see if there were any other fans of these finance instagram accounts on WSO. Absolutely hilarious posts on these accounts and there's a pretty dedicated community of 'FinMeme' accts on Instagram.
Lmk if there are any hardos out here on wso who love their deal sleds and short the vix

@lloydblankfine is the best account on Instagram imho
Nice self promo
Andy & Lit are goat
Certainly the best two. My only complaint is a lot of recycled material between the couple of accounts I follow.
notyourfathersbroker is top too
Andy is Hilarious.
I like to read @HoeingforYield when I'm out there hoeing for yield.
most of them are some try hard shit that only underclassmen wannabes follow. bankingpledge is hilarious tho.

Andy and Lit are hilarious, Finance_God is also right up there with the best of them
Can someone explain to me why Nomura gets memed on so hard on some of these pages?
becuase nomura sucks almost as much as ubs
EBITDAD was the OG
wonder what happened to him
Litquidity #1. Should have won the bracket hands down.
A lot of them have hilarious posts (although recycled) but I couldn't give less of a fuck about someone's rolex or verona bit loafers. Act like you've been there before bro
Nailed it. "If I ever 'check-in' somewhere on Facebook, it'll be Mt. Everest, Mars, or Kate Upton's bedroom. Not Chili's happy hour." ...or your 12th floor cubicle. - GSelevator
My favorite are Litquidity, Arbitrage Andy, Finance God. Also follow Banking Pledge, EBITDAD, Adjusted EBITDA, Finance Daddy
StockTwits is pretty good
NYFB is the best.

NYFB are my favorites
Litquidity is the goat
we had a finmeme wizard take over and that account has really taken off (IG @wallstreetoasis)
People don't really go on Instagram looking for WSO / career posts. Like you said, I think posting entertainment would be a better direction. Memes get shared all the time and there's an "in the finance club effect" where people tagging each other in finance memes makes them feel smarter / more prestigious so they're more likely to tag their friends in the memes then some discussion about careers.
More memes with the occasional WSO plug to a good / lighthearted discussion aimed at young people such as the "How to avoid being a bad intern" etc.
Everyone knows Instagram is for inspirational quotes.
I agree. Definitely have to play to a younger audience but it's difficult to toe the line of maintaining credibility. The funnier satire type posts here could be highlighted. Maybe pointing out articles that defy normal finance convention, screenshots of finance equations, or something along those lines. End of the day, you want to funnel people to the paid portion of your site. Whether you do that on ig or after they've visited your site is a WSO call.
This would be the best strategy
While a lot of hilarious shit talking goes on here, this website as a whole is too serious because it's usually people asking for interview or modeling help.
I'm sure the people who run those meme pages are on this forum, though.
Seems to have caught on now. Are you seeing good click thru rates? @AndyLouis
we have a finmeme wizard working on the IG account, amazing growth over the last few months.
I don't understand Mrs. Dow Jones though. She's not anonymous. She never worked in finance and for some reason has a finance meme IG account? Then again, most of the content she posts has nothing to do with Finance. Anyway, I thought it was cool at first that a woman was running one of those meme accounts right up until I found out she is just some stupid blogger chick.
Same
She has a brand and sells t-shirts and other things. I feel like most of the memes are just marketing for her.
as she is ugly as shit but acts like a dimepiece denying hf managers left and right... not a fan
Who the hell actually buys shit that Mrs. Dow Jones sells? All of her products are cringeworthy
Litquidity is pretty hilarious
Andy, Lit, and NYFB are legitimately funny. These guys are damn near single-handedly boosting sales of JUULs and La Croix thanks to undergrad try-hards copying everything they do. I'm sure it's a pain in the ass making sure nobody figures out who you are though (the bank would rip your ass apart).
I personally enjoy laughing at idiots wearing fleece vests during the summer on Midtown Uniform.
Liens of new York (@liensofnewyork) is the hottest finance meme boutique right now imo. Run by a couple of HF and PE dudes. They have an intellectual flair.
