Certainly the best two. My only complaint is a lot of recycled material between the couple of accounts I follow.

A lot of them have hilarious posts (although recycled) but I couldn't give less of a fuck about someone's rolex or verona bit loafers. Act like you've been there before bro

I feel like WSO is in a tough spot meme-wise because yall are the most credible source of high-finance information available so posting satirical memes could attract a lot of insincere interaction.

Only thing I note is that on Instagram's explore section, all you see are images, without the captions. So if your account's pictures come up on the explore page people will only see the actual picture of two guys shaking hands or a picture of a gorilla and have no idea that the actual post is pertinent to finance. They'll never see the caption with an explanation that contains a link. Maybe posting a screenshot of the funnier hot takes that occur on the forum would compel people to click on the post and follow the link to the website to respond more. Just a random thought.

People don't really go on Instagram looking for WSO / career posts. Like you said, I think posting entertainment would be a better direction. Memes get shared all the time and there's an "in the finance club effect" where people tagging each other in finance memes makes them feel smarter / more prestigious so they're more likely to tag their friends in the memes then some discussion about careers.

More memes with the occasional WSO plug to a good / lighthearted discussion aimed at young people such as the "How to avoid being a bad intern" etc.

Everyone knows Instagram is for inspirational quotes.

Apr 18, 2018

I agree. Definitely have to play to a younger audience but it's difficult to toe the line of maintaining credibility. The funnier satire type posts here could be highlighted. Maybe pointing out articles that defy normal finance convention, screenshots of finance equations, or something along those lines. End of the day, you want to funnel people to the paid portion of your site. Whether you do that on ig or after they've visited your site is a WSO call.

Apr 20, 2018

This would be the best strategy

While a lot of hilarious shit talking goes on here, this website as a whole is too serious because it's usually people asking for interview or modeling help.

I'm sure the people who run those meme pages are on this forum, though.

I don't understand Mrs. Dow Jones though. She's not anonymous. She never worked in finance and for some reason has a finance meme IG account? Then again, most of the content she posts has nothing to do with Finance. Anyway, I thought it was cool at first that a woman was running one of those meme accounts right up until I found out she is just some stupid blogger chick.

Same

Apr 19, 2018

She has a brand and sells t-shirts and other things. I feel like most of the memes are just marketing for her.

Andy, Lit, and NYFB are legitimately funny. These guys are damn near single-handedly boosting sales of JUULs and La Croix thanks to undergrad try-hards copying everything they do. I'm sure it's a pain in the ass making sure nobody figures out who you are though (the bank would rip your ass apart).
