Anyone heard of or work for HFP Capital Markets?
I saw one post on here talking about them but not much was mentioned.
I have been looking for a job as a recent graduate for 2 months now and haven't been lucky at all. I got a call from HFP today asking me a few questions and they set up a 1 on 1 interview with me next week.
Their website seems pretty crappy. Is this a legit company? They said they have paid training $1,200 a month ... and a base of $1,200 per month once you get licensed plus the commissions of whatever you make.
Any pointers from you monkeys?

It is a legit company. But it is a retail broker position, I think they also have some institutional relationships as well. They are focused on fixed income and you will be cold calling most of the day in the first year to find clients to buy bonds from you. However being a bond salesman is a pretty good gig, if you do not mind sales. If you have nothing better to do, I would take it. They are located in midtown and therefore you have no excuse not to network. Secondly they will sponsor you for your series 7 and 63. Finally i would learn everything you can about fixed income and maybe try for the CFA. You will also learn how to cold call which is a skill that everyone should know as it gives you confidence to be able to talk to anyone on the phone.
Got a call from this place and also know some who worked there and last all of a couple weeks. It's a total sham, do NOT waste your time with the retail broker position..$1,200 / month pretty much should be a red flag to you. I know you're desperate for a position, but look for other roles in Ops or something.
Thanks for your insight. I really have had no real offers so I may try it and see what comes of it. Better than sitting around doing nothing. You mentioned other roles in ops. Could you be more specific please? What types of entry level positions are good starters for recent grads in ops? I have a bachelors in Business Administration and Finance.

I saw that ... but it looks like some people giving it bad reviews because they just don't like broker positions. Did you find anything else that is an actual scam other than disgruntled trainees?
Idk, read awhile ago and said that they were lying about spreads on their trades or w.e; aka being shady. Nothing to do with employees
I know this is an old thread but I just came across it. Hopefully this will help someone else looking now. I interviewed at HFP a couple months back. Starting out all you do is cold call, specifically cold call for 12+ hours a day. Great skill to learn so if that is something you're interested in then it could be a good place to start. $1,200 a month is clearly not enough to live in Manhattan. Maybe somewhere in Jersey though if you're OK with a commute. The partner I interviewed with explained that within the first month of the job 90% of people will quit. Probably close to 30 people sat in one room at 3 long tables with a phone and a computer in front of them shoulder to shoulder, all looked to be recent graduates as well. IYW I declined their offer. Not the right environment for myself, but if it sounds appealing to you good luck!

Hello, I am a college student in NYC. I Recently applied for an internship at HFP Capital Markets, position named: Wealth Management (Broker) Trainee. I got a call, and they offered me a 1 on 1 interview coming up soon. Upon researching the company, one of the first things that pops up is "HFC Capital Markets Scam," and it has me a little worried. Does anybody have any information regarding this bank? Should I cancel my interview, or go through with it? Thanks in advance
They are legit from my research, but I hear it's very difficult making money to start out just like any other broker trainee position. You do have the possibility to make a good deal amount of money down the road since it is a sales job. I received an offer to interview with them and declined.
looks like lots of cold calling and not much analysis. If you like sales then that's fine but if not then I would look elsewhere
