Applied Math vs. Economics Major

I have to pick a major soon and would love to get some advice from all of you. I'm torn between double majoring in economics and philosophy and double majoring in applied mathematics and philosophy. I go to a target school and like both math and econ but wouldn't want to double major for obvious reasons.

I'd like to go into IB after graduation. Almost everyone interested in finance is an economics major at my school, so being an econ major doesn't really set you apart in any way unless you have a really high GPA. I've heard that GPAs for econ majors have to be closer to 3.9 for recruiting but can be around 3.7 for math.

What degree do you think I should pursue? What would be more beneficial for recruiting and for a career in finance?

Thanks a lot.
