Are Banks still hiring for 2013 analyst programs?

By browsing through websites and job posting from different sources I encountered that BB banks such as Credit Suisse or MM banks like Duff&Phelps, SunTrust etc. still have analyst openings on their websites that were recently posted. Are they really hiring? Or does that serve another purpose? THX!

That doesn't mean they are actively hiring or looking at candidates. Some firms have job postings up for a long time even after positions are filled.

Why is that? I mean BB banks receive thousands of applications. Is that what they want? well the postings I was talking about were posted at the end of May. They were not old, so I assumed they are actually hiring.

The open positions are in fact real e.g., I was invited to a process by a bank similar to the ones posted. I think that the way to be considered is to network with people that you know at a particular bank and have them refer you to decision makers.
