Asset based Lending Exit Opportunities

I'm going to be starting at an Asset Based Lending group for PNC. The first few years of this role will have me as a Field Examiner.

I was wondering what the most common exit opps for this line of work are, and what are some interesting fields I could potentially break into? What lines of work/experience should I look to pursue within the PNC Business credit track to best set myself up? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

If you don’t want to work your way up to a sales rep in the bank, most people here typically define “exit opps” as going to private equity funds. One difference between now and the old days is that private equity funds do not typically use bank for financing most industries, instead they use non bank lenders more often. However to compensate for this PNC started doing cash flow lending based on a software recurring revenue formula. So sponsors come to them for this.

Thank you for the reply!

Transitioning into Private Equity would definitely be something that interests me.

Going from Commercial finance, what are some things I could do to best position myself? Would getting an MBA or Masters in Finance boost my odds? Within PNC should I try to position myself to work with more PE Clients vs mid market companies?

Thanks again for any help youre able to provide
