It's not the name, but the content of the program that counts
^^ agreed. in addition to content of your program your actual performance will play a huge role in recruitment. I am no expert, but it is safe to say that a 3.9 BA GPA > 3.5 BS GPA. Basically, do what you think you will do better in not what "sounds" the best.
Plus I think people will look over the BA part and focus on the Math part - thats just a hunch.
It might depend on the school. At my alma mater, the BS and BA were significantly different. I was only about 4-5 classes away from the BA, but 10+ (if I remember correctly) from the BS. If your school is similar, I think for most finance jobs, it'd be better to do the BA, and use the extra time for something else (internships; networking; double-major in econ, finance, stats, computer science, etc.; pick up a minor in econ, finance, stats, computer science, etc.; extra curricular activities; socializing with friends).
It's just a naming convention that differs by each school. Mathematics is just as much an art as it is a science (in many ways, it's more philosophy than science). I earned a B.Sc (Hons.) in Mathematics, but I would much rather have earned an A.B in mathematics from Princeton.
