BB In Philadelphia
Posting this thread to see if anyone know what the best branches of big investment banks in Philadelphia are the best ones to work for and what their hiring patterns are for SA. I know most of them are PWM but just wanted to get a feel of what is available.
There's a handful of boutiques. Janney is based in Philly, they have fig, healthcare, industrials, public finance and some ER groups. PNC has DCM, asset backed securities and loan syndications iirc. There are no BB investment banking or ER groups.
I know Goldman has PWM but I didn't know if any other ones had.
I knew there weren't any IBD in Philadelphia
Some of the boutiques include the following:
-Delancey Street Partners - SSG Capital Advisors -Piper Jaffray (small public finance and project finance groups) -Boenning & Scattergood -Corporate Advisory Solutions -Mufson Howe Hunter -Bryant Park Capital -Fairmount Partners
Also some good PE firms like Versa Capital, SIG, LLR Partners.
Thanks, very helpful for boutiques.
Just as a heads up, 99% of those boutiques are located in the suburbs. I'm not sure how familiar you are with Philly, but the suburbs are pretty nice, just don't expect these boutiques to be in a skyscraper in downtown Philly.
Vanguard is also out there
Yeah as far as BBs go, Goldman has PWM downtown, MS has PWM (I think downtown?) and FoF in the burbs, CS has PWM in the burbs I believe. I think RBC has some pubfin downtown.
Here's a boutique/MM list I put together last time somebody asked about the Philly scene:
City proper: Janney Montgomery Scott Stifel (small office) Mufson Howe Hunter Baker Tilly Capital MidMarket Capital Advisors
Suburbs: Fairmount Partners Boenning & Scattergood SSG Capital Advisors Bryant Park Capital Delancey Street Partners Marks Baughan & Co Falcon Capital Partners Griffin Financial Group Capstone Partners
CS has PWM and PB in Conshy
Citi and Piper Jaffray have Public Finance
huge help thanks!
PE in Conshy and JPM has wealth management.
JPMorgan has private banking and a mid Atlantic equity sales desk in the city. Harris Williams and Stifel have offices. Citi has public finance and equity sales. BB&T is building out their presence.
HW closed up shop, unfortunately. Think it was late 2013 or early 2014.
Also, for what it's worth, there's a decent amount of BB branches in Wilmington, presumably for tax reasons. That being said, I don't know what sort of finance they do over there.
All back office, as far as I know.
Philadelphia is kind of like NYC's Back Office
I believe there is a Deutsche Bank as well somewhere
MS has PWM in Conshy
