What do you mean by stuck up? Like the barrista's are just plain unfriendly? That ruins the whole experience, I love chatting with the barrista's and unloading all my problems onto them lmao.

Notice I said coffeeshops (despite parentheses).

If you want the best coffee, based on quality of beans/taste, go to Ethiopia.
Helps that a cup costs less than $0.25 USD.

Any recommendations for midtown area? Been drinking a lot of Starbucks recently since its next to my office but I'm guessing thats probably not the best place.

In London there is this small chain of Italian cafes called La Bottega. Only place I've found in London that makes proper Espresso - only thing is they have two shops in South Kensington and Belgravia so far from the City or Canary Wharf but worth the detour if you work in Mayfair.
