Best Lifestyle Job in Finance for 25 year old; Need time for side projects

Hey guys,

I have worked in investment banking at a BB and then at a billion dollar direct lending hedge fund. I really love finance and investments but the finance jobs are just not for me. I hate the long hours, the personalities, and the general inability to get away from the job. Are there certain jobs I should look for or do I have to get out of finance altogether?

I also like doing various profitable side projects in my free time such as investing in real estate and selling items in stores and online, so this means I would need a job that doesn't run much later than 5pm or 6pm and allows free time on weekends.

Thanks in advance

Always thought direct lending would be a really cushy finance gig with pretty good hours since I'm assuming diligence is either not as rigorous or it comes pre-packaged from other parties. Not sure what else within finance would provide what you are looking for other than perhaps MO / BO jobs which is not a bad way to go if you think you can make up with difference with side projects / hustles. Interested to see what others say.

It sounds like you answered your own question. Just build up these side projects to an income that supports your monthly needs, submit a resignation, and go from there. Good luck.
