Best resources to learn more about Finance & Investment Banking
I honestly think i'll get sh*t for this, so apologies in advance.
What are the best resources available online which can teach me more about the Finance Industry and Investment Banking? Right now, I'm in that point wherein I'm interested in taking Finance but I have barely any knowledge on the field.
I know I can simply type Investment Banking/Finance in Google, but I was hoping to hear some input on the best resources available that can educate me well and not give me any short/false explanation.
Basic Investment Banking Resources
1.) MI - If you don't know much about Investment Banking AT ALL and want entertaining articles to learn about it, this site has some interesting reads and is not highly technical. Lots of anecdotal articles which are easy reads.
2.) Investment Banking - Rosenbaum & Pearl - Best resource (IMO) for more technical knowledge of the work investment banks do. Probably best learning resource outside of actually being on the job. You will learn everything you would need to know at the entry level from this book, it's worth the effort. If you aren't willing to pay for it, I'm sure you can spend 5 minutes and find a pdf somewhere online.
3.) Wall Street Oasis (You are here)
Those three sources should be all you need to get a basic to intermediate level understanding of investment banking.

Finance Resources
(Given "Finance" is a very broadly defined term, I'll just list a few sources that are more tangentially related to investment banking and general interest finance. This is not an exhaustive list, just sources I've personally found helpful and interesting)
1.) Aswath Damodaran - Valuation - Aswath Damodaran is one of the most respected names in the field of valuation and a professor at NYU Stern. He literally puts every single resource from the classes he teaches (including video/audio files of lectures). You can learn a lot from this website.
2.) News outlets - Honestly the best way to begin getting a grasp on the industry/the lingo, is to start following the news. WSJ - Markets --- Bloomberg --- Financial Times
3.) Investopedia - Come across a term/concept you don't understand in the previous sources? Just search it here, it gives good basic descriptions of pretty much every concept in finance/accounting.
4.) Matt Levine - This last one is a little more random, but he is my favorite columnist on Bloomberg and writes very interesting and funny daily newsletters. Not always finance-specific, but he has a finance/investment banking background so his articles/opinions tend to drift towards finance and banking topics.

Very detailed, SBed. Just wanted to add that by MI he means Mergers & Inquisitions. Also, Matt Levine is my favorite columnist as well - I'm subscribed to him on Bloomberg and I get a notification whenever his stuff pops up and I read it immediately. He's both witty and knowledgable and I think I have a man-crush on him.
Pardon my noobness. But the last source (Matt Levine-Money talk) its a newsletter and i see it he has a Twitter and also writes money talk for Blomberg newsweek. But however I cannot seem to find how to subscribe to the newsletter per say? Thank you in advance
