Big REPE Firm Modeling Exam
I've got an upcoming modeling exam for an analyst position at CBRE GI. It's a writing sample, an excel model, and an argus model crammed into a 3 hour window. I'm good on the argus and the writing, just don't really know what I should study for the excel portion. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
you're going to get your cash flows from argus, therefore once you drop that into excel you'll need to build out your debt and calculate return numbers, so focus on exporting from argus into excel, getting that export into a cash flows table, building out debt, and calculating IRR/EMx/Profits/etc...
when you say "building out debt" do you mean an amortization table? also, do you think I'll have to do a waterfall for the outputs (IRR, EMx, profits)?
doubt it, but prepared just in case for a waterfall and yes amortization tables that flow into the deal cash flows

Have the same opportunity as OP. Does anyone here have more insight into CBRE GI? Spoke with a few people on the team but still have some questions about what the group an the position looks like. Core, core +, or opportunistic?
May I ask your credentials? Like how many years experience? Target school?
For a data point, I have 5 years experience at a known company and went to a “target” school, but could get beat out for any number of reasons
Can I ask why you're applying to an analyst position w 5 years of experience? Would imagine it would be a pay cut for you
Of course - better aligns with my interests and the type of work I enjoy.
Do the amortization table. It should take you 3-5 minutes.
