Biggest work-related frustration during the pandemic? FUN REPLIES WELCOMED
So, what are your biggest problems/frustrations due to the pandemic? Be sure to share them here so we could support each other.
I have the following:
1. Unable to pick up my WSO shirt from the post office because the city is on the lockdown.
2. We should have had a reporting period in my country, and now all the reports are delayed as the companies had to send half of their staff to paid holiday leave, and the other half who is working from home is ineffective. I am updating the local market regulator's website 50 times per day in hope of something coming up and having to do some ER, otherwise, I am bored AF.
3. IB deals are also delayed because of lazy folks in the partner's companies are treating the lockdown as a long holiday. Literally waiting for weeks just to receive basic documentation to proceed with the deal.
4. ACCA exams canceled for June, so I would have to take more exams in September and December sessions in order to get the charter timely. This is really hard whilst working full time.

I have never been as frustrated with my job and life as I have been this month.
On mid march my bank also decided to send over 60% of staff on paid holidays. I assume to do an accounting trick where they can put the future holidays against the operating costs and on a technicality not be losing money. My department in particular was left with only 25% of it's size and with me being the only one at the analyst level. As you can imagine, all of the department's daily reporting stuff fell on me. At first I thought it was going to be okay. I reasoned that even if my previous job had nothing to do with this stuff it would be a good experience to learn how to build these reports. Beyond that, I also imagined that management getting their numbers every day was way more important than me getting the projects I liked given the situation. The first few days I was left alone to learn the ropes of all of these reports and I quickly learned that depending on the daily incidents and special cases, finishing these reports could take between 60% and 120% of my working day. This was all good because in the bad days I was more than willing to just quitely do (unpaid, of course) my overtime to finish the reports, and in the good days I'd still have my bossess constantly calling me to give me stuff to do to fill that remaining 40%.
The truly frustrating part came when management decided that they needed a bunch of new reports, numbers, research, etc. Yes, in a time of crisis when only 25% of my department is working they decided was the perfect time to build new stuff. I never say no to this things and as a result I have been consistently working 4 hours overtime on average every day. I was used to staying until midnight at the office every now and then when it was needed but this has been every single day. It's funny how when I was sent to work from home and was still working on that 60%-120% basis I thought it would be the perfect time to start studying for the FRM or take some courses online, read some books. But now that I have essentially been given 2 full time jobs the moment I turn off my laptop I'm already exhausted.
The only light at the end of the tunnel for me is that despite my quality of work decreasing to meet these impossible deadlines it seems my boss still recognizes that right now I am absolutely dreading my existence doing these daily reports and has already informed me that the moment the rest of the team comes back I'll start working on a new project. I can't wait to just absolutely disconnect from this daily torture and just do something new.
I honestly hate virtual meetings. I must have terrible ears or something but sometimes I can't understand what people are saying at all.
I also discovered I am awful at learning on the job... woo.. exciting.
Consistent 7-8 hour rest is pretty nice though.
