Blackrock Fixed Income Trader
Hi guys,
I am currently a structurer on the sell side non BB. I do get to trade but mainly for hedging and execution. I do not run my own P&L, though I expect that to change in a year or two. Recently, an opportunity to join BlackRock at their Trading & Liquidity Strategies as a fixed income trader has turned up. Supposedly, I will be able to sit in to morning meetings and provide some inputs into the trade ideas and investment process, mainly from a liquidity point of view I guess. Given that my main objective is to eventually be a global macro trader, will this be a good opportunity for me?

If its the role I think it is then there will be no trading aspect since its with the TLS COO team its an analyst role where you are analyzing counterparties, supporting business management
Hi Thank you for your reply :) Actually, it is a trading role for executing BlackRock’s cash and derivative trades for portfolio managers globally. However, I am concerned that it is very executionary and there is no discretionary element that I can take, although I can provide some feedback on the market to the PMs, and maybe suggest trade ideas based on that? I am abit concerned how valuable the experience will be to my career though?
