Bocconi Exchange Student Courses
Hello everyone!
I'm an economics second-year student, and next semester I'll be attending Bocconi university as an exchange student.
Except two courses that are core in my degree (Macroeconomics and Public Finance), I am able to choose the other courses that I will attend while in Milan. However, I am quite undecided about which courses to take.
Even though I'm studying Economics, my passion has always been equities. From young age, I have been reading books regarding the topic. As such, I would like to have courses more focused on investing and asset management. However, if you believe that any other type of subject is important, tell me!
I am undecided about which courses to take and I would like to get some advices on what to choose.
What courses do you think are the ones which will bring greater knowledge (not only theoretical, but also practical)? If there's anyone who attended Bocconi who has any knowledge or advice it would be particularly helpful! But if there is not, any advice is just great! I always like to hear from people that know more than I do :)
I am particularly interested in knowing if you believe that some of these courses overlay topics. If that's the case, I would just choose the course you believe it's best.
If you could give me a ranking, it would be great!! I have to choose three courses among the ones below.
Below, I will post the courses (along with the corresponding syllabus; the English version will usually be below the Italian one) in which I am more inclined to choose.
Corporate Valuation: To me, it seems a good course to get some framework on Valuation. In addition, the Professor seems reputable, which is always a plus!
Syllabus Corporate Valuation
Financial Analysis and Performance Measurement: What I enjoyed about this course is that it will help me to look to companies from different perspectives. No information on the Professor.
Syllabus FAPM
Equity Portfolio Management: As above mentioned, I always loved to know more about equities. However, I am afraid that this course in practical terms would not be of great value. In other words, I'm apprehensive that the marginal benefit would not be great, since it seems to me that the topics covered are pretty standard. Nevertheless, the Professor seems to be really popular and reputable. I have done a quick search and it seemed to me that he was a very well known person and professor.
Syllabus EPM
Introduction to Options, Futures and Other Financial Derivatives: Even though it seems a little bit unrelated, it seems to me like an esoteric but important topic. Maybe it would be of great value to have knowledge on this stuff that it is not very well understood by many people. For example, when I read annual reports usually I don't have a clue on how do financial enterprises report their options and hedges and how they value them. However, I'm a newbie so no clue if this course would be of any help. No info on Professor.
Syllabus Options
Business Strategy: For me, it seems a major topic in order to perform Valuation. In order to understand how companies position themselves in the industry this course seems perfect. To forecast and understand if there's some competitive advantage that the enterprise may have, it seems that at least some basic knowledge on the issue is necessary. No info on Professor.

Thank you all! Thank you for your time!
