BX M&A NYC
Most of the threads on this are pretty outdated; just wanted to hear what people's perspectives were on this group's culture, reputation, exit opps, etc. as compared to BB's like MS/GS

I'm sure you'll have amazing exit opps. Check linkedin - their analysts place exceptionally well (majority to top PE firms like Bain Capital and top hedge funds)

Interviewed with them recently. M&A and restructuring have amazing culture, honestly the nicest people I've ever met during this recruiting process. I'm planning to turn down all my other BB/elite boutiques interviews if I can get an offer. feel free to PM for details
The only two analysts I know there are going to top megafunds, so exit ops seem on par with GS/MS
BX M&A - Could someone provide some insight into the group? (Originally Posted: 07/26/2008)
Hi there,
Could anyone provide some insight into the group? What are the strengths / weaknesses? What should I expect during the interview?
Thanks!
London or NYC?
London
Like foiegras said, great culture. Top notch exit ops/prestige, took it over MS
BX M&A - Shed some light on advisory practices? (Originally Posted: 09/17/2011)
Can anyone shed some light on Blackstone's advisory practice in NY/Menlo/Boston? I have an interview with them coming up. How's the culture, exit opps, etc.?

I think the consensus is: top group with strong PE placement (I can confirm that people there get a lot of attention from headhunters and interview with all the megafunds), prestigious name, but deals are probably not as high profile as what you'd do at a BB. I hear hours/culture in NY are great, but not sure about the other offices.
Does anyone know what the SA->FT conversion rate is?

Anyone know what kind of jobs their analysts tend to get? Also, what kind of hours do they work? Is it UBS LA bad?
BX M&A places very well into large cap PE. Honestly, I bash on them a bit for no good reason because I got dinged there for SA recruiting, but I got to know a few guys there and they're a really good group. This is all hearsay, but BX M&A is supposed to have one of the best cultures on the street (lifestyle is supposedly not as good as Greenhill's but better than Evercore and Moelis).
phenomenal exit ops from what ive heard also know for pretty good culture and obviously you will work hard...
I hear the same
Congrats if you got an offer!
As the three above have said, exit opps and culture are both great. Work is work, of course, but given that BX M&A is a relationship-driven group and has a very focused approach to advisory, in all likelihood you will get above average deal experience with a below average amount of pitching monotony.
Historically BX has taken 6 SAs, and almost all end up signing on FT. There are usually 8 or 9 FT analysts total
