Cantor Fitzgerald Investment Banking

Does anyone have an opinion/ any information on the quality of Cantor Fitzgerald's (small) IB group? I've heard it's about 50 people nation-wide. Anybody know someone who works there, or has worked there?

Please no posts about their loss in 9/11. This is covered plenty elsewhere.

Thanks

I worked there for years. While I enjoyed it, I would not suggest going to work for the IB. Additionally, Howard is not the easiest person to work for. Although I doubt you will be reporting to him, your boss most likely will and he is notoriously controlling.

On the other hand, it may be a good place to start as long as you keep looking for another job and plan to leave there within a year. Lastly, you may already know this, you will be paid horribly.

i've generally seen a lot of negative discussion about cantor on this forum yet its #39 on vault. i really dont wanna talk about rankings right now but i wanna know how the firm is perceived today

went to a Jets game with a family friend who did well on the street early on, turned to the non-profit world, and is now re-entering the finance sector at Cantor Fitzgerald.

The guy was like ashamed...went on and on about how they are a crappy firm, but he had been out of the game a while and was just trying to get back in. I've never heard someone so begrudgingly accept a job...

I know they were also decimated by 9/11 as they were one of the firms hit the hardest in the towers. Based on this guys words, I'm not sure where they were before the tragedy, but it seems like they haven't made up any ground lost.

Also, not sure what you want, but I'm pretty sure they have no corporate finance, just s & t.

there are other brokers if you're interested in them...i know a bunch of brokers, they're sort of our sales coverage

they're a very strong broker in certain products. and weaker in others. same is true for ICAP, GFI, Tullet all the players.

I have no idea about what their salaries are like...top brokers at any of these shops can make a lot of money. banks pay a lot of bro.
