Capital One FRP
Hi all,
So I have an upcoming final round interview with Capital One's FRP and I was wondering if anyone who has recently gone through the process could shed some light on their experiences. What were the interviews like (specifically the cases), and what was their overall feel of the day in general? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I interviewed for that program about a year ago and was not given an offer, which worked out great because I got a much better gig shortly after (prob would have mistakenly taken Cap One if they offered it). They flew me out to Virignia and the campus was amazing (sick gym, indoor basketball court, tree houses, baseball/soccer fields) except it is legit in the middle of nowhere. The rotation program is great but they mix corporate development with like tax reporting (which you don't want) so you really need to be careful about what your second rotation is because you will most likely be placed in your second or third rotation. Comp was excellent from what i've heard. Definitely don't stop looking though.
as far as the actual interview, there is two or three case interviews which they are really big on, also a few fit, no need to worry about the fit except they really like people from down south and not the NY area (talk to fast etc.) they are really laid back there and like to take alot of breaks and are very casual so make sure you follow along with that. You need to think out loud about the case and make sure if you don't get it right away and they give you a hint that you get it after the hint and show them you understand.
Also they put me in a nice hotel, took us out for a steak dinner and drinks the night before and then gave us free lunch in the cafeteria that day (cafeteria is awesome, ice cream machine and everything)
Hours are also awesome. like 830 to 5.
The campus is not in the middle of nowhere. its ~15 minutes from a fairly large city in which all of the analysts live.

JDR do you remember any specifics from your case interviews? I think I am good to go for the behavioral/job fit, but I don't have much formal case interviewing experience.
HPM can you comment on how the line of business/geographic locations are determined? I was told rotation one is solely based on business need but I was led to believe that rotations 2 and 3 are more "where you want to be/what you want to be doing", is there any truth to that?
The where you want to be/what you want to do thing definitely comes into play. If you make it known that you want to work in X business which happens to be in Y geography, you should have a pretty damn good shot of getting there. However, if you say you want to live in Y geography therefore you want to do X business the chances of getting it are much reduced. Meaning you should show interest in the business that you would be doing and not the city where you'll be moving. They are generally fairly flexible on location to an extent for most roles but you have to have a reason and you have to spend at least a year in a role before you can move baring some sort of major business need in which case they'll ask for volunteers.
Thanks HPM that's great advice. What exactly are the lines of business available to FRP analysts (the website/pamphlet only outlines Finance and Accounting) and where do they operate out of? Also do you have any interview tips that you wouldn't mind sharing? I'm really excited about this opportunity and I want to make sure I am as prepared as possible!
I don't work in finance so I can't really speak to the different LOBs they support. I would encourage you to look through linkedin and see what you can find.
As far as the interview, everything you need should be on glassdoor or WSO. The FRP interview process is different than the process for Business Analysts.

Besides behavioral, they do a lot of simple, strategic case studies. Like, we are seeing X pattern, what are some of the things that might explain this? Nothing specific, just testing how you analyze problems and go about solving them.
I have my FRP interview coming up as well. Can anyone who already has an offer, or is actually in the know tell me what comp is like for this year's program?

So I am back from the interview and I have to say it was a great experience. The interviews are tough but everyone is very nice and extremely helpful. I would definitely apply to the program when you can.
