CIBC to CEO? How is this possible

https://www.bloomberg.com/research/stocks/private…

I just read about this guy who’s ceo of a big but kinda boring REIT (read his bio above). He’s making $3mil a year and is a ceo at 41. Very impressive. But here’s where things get weird

He did his analyst years at CIBC in the leveraged finance group... how does a guy become successful after starting at CIBC? Frankly that bank seems like a death sentence. It looks like he worked at a major PE fund after CIBC. Do you think he had to bribe someone, do sexual favors, or have his dad call in favors in order to get the job at Farallon after CIBC?

AND he was at Farallon for 11 years, so how did he keep up the charade for that long!?Surely they wanted his ass out of there given that Farallon hires from top tier investment banks. What is this guys secret?

For those who know people at CIBC, can you imagine a path where one of those guys becomes a ceo? Do you think they’d do sexual favors to get there?

Sorry for rambling but my whole world has been turned upside down. Next thing you know, people from Deloitte will be becoming CEOs - it’s just ludicrous
