Comp at Barclays vs. William Blair
Looking for any insights at comp when you move up the ladder at either place. I believe they are both the same at the Analyst and Associate years, but how do you think comp would change at the VP, Director, MD level? I know WB is all cash vs. deferred at Barclays so that's also something to consider... Thanks!
.
200k as an analyst? damn that's better than EBs
Blair isn’t 200 average per year as an analyst, unless you’re including an A2A bonus but even then that’s a bit of a stretch
Nahh, Barclays has done really well lately but junior comp has lagged which is pissing everyone off (rightfully so)
Don’t know about WB, but Barclays comp last year was shit and they haven’t done anything to address GS survey while WB has...
Blair avg is 170/yr for analyst yrs not including signing and covid bonuses
Or regular bonuses. I think some undergrads don’t realize that the more “prestigious” brands usually pay less because they can afford to meanwhile the less sought after shops often overcomp to grab talent.
Yup this is correct. Some of the best bumps in analyst/assoc benefits (including comp) were from firms which people ignore here or wave to the side given they aren't as high in prestige.
Blair is not paying 170k base a year to analysts, that number includes regular bonuses.
Base 85k first 6 months
Base 90k middle 12 months
Base 95k last 6 months
Stub bonus 35k first February
Regular Bonus 85k (this is mid bucket which almost everyone gets) second february
Stub bonus 35k July at end of 2 years
Total comes out to 167.5k/yr over the two years
Blair is higher across all levels and that doesn't even take into account the lower COL at Blair
You think that is the case even at the VP, Director and MD levels?
Yes
This is false.
Can you elaborate a little more?
To me, WB wins on everything except maybe prestige to people outside of finance, and exits?
Damn, props to WB leadership.
only thing that WB wins on is comp apparently, not sure what you mean by everything
