Computer skills in cover letter
Hi guys!
I am currently crafting my cover letters for consulting internships. I have included my relevant skills and why I have those skills/where I got them. However, I was wondering if it is appropriate also to mention my computer skills in a brief sentence, saying that I am experienced in using databases, Excel and PowerPoint from both my previous internships aswell as from my information systems courses at the university.
I´d really appreciate your input.
I would not. If you put it anywhere, put it at the bottom of your resume, all on one line to save space.

The way I took your question, I thought you would insert a line saying "I am proficient in Word, Excel, Access etc." I think your work in databases might be worth a mention as you describe your prior internships, but I would not include the rest.
To me, proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel is table stakes for an entry-level consultant, which is why I suggest you just list it at the bottom of a resume on one line, since it won't differentiate you at all. I would spend more time explaining how your prior work makes you a good fit.
The mention of basic knowledge is more than likely wasted space and can distract from your overall message. I'd spend more characters reflecting on your experiences and their results. If there is the need to fill more space, it could be beneficial if the skills you gained are more unique to entry level individuals (e.g. VBA) or are based on industry relevant software (e.g. FactSet) and your ability to use this software in an advanced manner (e.g. FactSet Add-In).
