No surprise that many Russians still aren't taking COVID-19 seriously and vaccination rates are pretty low, but doesn't it seem alarming that there have been 1000+ daily deaths since mid-October? The death curves appear to have reached a plateau of around 1200 daily deaths and don't appear to be decreasing in the short-term. They seem pretty fucked. What can be done? A fear is that the massive daily number of cases + deaths will spawn new variants that could make Omicron look like the flu. Not to be alarmist, but there should be a bit of concern here...

There's way more than 1200 a day, when my fiancé's grandma passed the morgues were full and the people working there said there were tons of COVID deaths being marked as something else to try and cover it up. The whole thing is just terribly depressing.
I'm not surprise. And I assume that there are no to few restrictions that people aren't taking seriously anyway, right?
