Credit Suisse Fixed Income Desks

I received an offer for a Summer Analyst with Credit Suisse Fixed Income. The program is rotational in nature, and they actually let us have a say in which desks we are assigned to. I am aware that CS is generally regarded to have one of if not the best High Yield/Distressed Debt trading desks on the street, but are any of their other desks particularly strong? How are they in Currencies, Commodities and Emerging Markets?

I would really appreciate some info. Thanks

That's the question... Which group is good at CS in FICC ? is there one ? :)

Tell me something I don't know...

Does CS do a rotational internship program within fixed income? What about full time offers are they 2 year rotational within FI or are you assigned to a product non-rotational?

Loan syndicate trading is the best in the business past 5 or so years.

Really? Can I ask what that's based on? My perception was that they're good but still behind JPM/BOA just because of those bank's dominance of the primary market.

Also the guys at CS pretty much started the business and have been there ever since.

Interesting, thanks for that.

Yeah,

CS has a VERY strong mortgage group.

Apart from that, I don't really know specifics. I suppose they are a solid player in most areas..never really dominating, but always there.

Depends on which culture you like more. They are vastly different. Are there any aspects that are tipping you to one side or the other?
Id love to take the above problem off your hands.

Internship is rotational, fulltime is not. PM if you have specific questions.

Dont forget that the desks power and profitability can change rapidly depending on the performance of the traders, so what is number one this year may not be next year

are there any recommendations for the desks within fixed income for CS, I mean what are their main differences

Feb 9, 2010

Hi everybody,

Fixed Income seems to have been doing pretty bad lately, specially concerning no-flow-monsters, such as Credit Suisse.
Do you have any information regarding Credit Suisse FI business? Their results have been quite poor, and I'm wondering if the division is threatened by a plain shutdown. What do you think about it? Within CS FI, does anyone know which areas are doing well (FX, Commos, credit, etc.)? I know that rates are in a pretty fucked up situation...

Feb 9, 2010

No shutdown, but there's been a lot of reorg. It's a little unpleasant, but it's the way the cookie crumbles.
