Decision- HK

Would appreciate if I can get some advice from the senior monkeys.

I currently have two offers: Citi IBD HK and Barcap IBD HK.

For Citi, I am not assigned to a team yet and might be placed in an industry or M&A group.

For Barcap, I know I will be placed in the M&A group.

From my understanding, Citi is a much stronger bank in Asia than BarCap as BarCap is currently expanding its ECM business.

What offer should I take. Since BarCap is a new bank in Asia, does anyone have figures for the bonus (analyst). Is it on par with the street. Thank you

YTD global M&A Rankings: (Reuters)

  1. Goldman Sachs
  2. Morgan Stanley
  3. Citi
  4. JP Morgan
  5. Credit Suisse
  6. Barclays Capital
  7. UBS
  8. Bank of America-Merrill Lynch
  9. Deutsche Bank
  10. Lazard

Since Im too lazy to type out the other ones I feel pertinent to your choice ill just list them here:

YTD- US M&A 1. Goldman 2. Barcap 3. Morgan Stanley 4. Citi

YTD Asia M&A 1. MS 2. UBS 3. Barclays 13. Goldman 16. JP Moragn 17. Citi

YTD Global Equity Cap Markets 1. JP Morgan 2. Goldman 3. Morgan 6. Citi. 10. Barclays

Also Asia Equity markets Citi is top 5 while Barclays isnt top 20.

So it really depends on what you want. Asia is all about ECM and IPOs, not such M&A.

gsgh:
just talk to my friend who worked at citi. He said that Barcap offered the highest bonus last year. so...gud luck and congrats on the offer

That is not true at all and contradicts your other thread where you claim DB paid the highest.

Sorry about your citi rejection. At least you're not spamming boards with stupid questions anymore though.
