Thoughts?
I interned in Business Valuation last summer and will be returning to the group for full-time in the near future. Interviews were primarily behavioral, though I was asked a few technical questions related to my prior experience. If you have any further questions related to the job or interview, feel free to ask or PM me.
please keep info coming
Can we try and keep as much of the non-personal information available to the members here and avoid PMs as much as possible? I understand not everyone wants to advertise where they work, etc. but it seems like a lot of posts get pushed to PMs which sort of circumvents the intent of having a forum.
Thanks for the info you provided jordock. I am also curious to hear some responses, so if anyone else has something to add please do.
Regards
basic fit/technical interview
heard they only taking one or something...
The work in Business Valuation is primarily concerned with post-merger FASB 141 (Purchase Price Allocation) and 142 (Intangible Asset Valuation) valuations. Other valuations performed include 409a stock option valuation and occasional pre-deal valuations for audit clients who require a fairness opinion on a potential acquisition target. You will gain experience valuing intangible assets and securities using DCF valuation, the market approach, etc. You will develop strong modeling skills but will not gain any pitch experience like you would in investment banking.
Anyone else
Deloitte Business Valuation Interview (Originally Posted: 10/13/2010)
I have two back to back interviews with business valuation professionals.
Could anyone provide me with what to expect?
Any serious responses are much appreciated.
This is for FT and considered within FAS I believe
Almost entirely fit but be prepared to discuss basic bval concepts if asked.
When I interviewed there they were really cautious about kids who had "good" resumes. Seemed like they knew that they were the backup to Ibanks and were trying to weed kids out based on that. So I guess prepare for the "why Deloitte Bval instead of ibanking"
Ans Q's about Bval and why Deloitte.
PM me if u have more Q's
I have an interview scheduled in a week for Deloitte Business Valuation Life Sciences sector. I'm going to prepare by studying various approaches to valuation (income, market, cost) and also freshen up on intangible assets. Knowing that this is in the life sciences industry, what else should I be looking at?
I have a life sciences b-val interview coming up. Any advice or comment on your experience would be greatly appreciated. [email protected]

Got an interview in a couple weeks, wanted some more insight into the group, and possible technical questions. Really would be appreciated.
What's your background?

Does anyone know anything about this group? (exit opportunities, depth of work, respect)
Same any other Valuation groups. Do a search.
I did a search, but couldn't find information comparing it to things outside valuation. Any other thoughts?
Will u have a CPA?
Keep in mind, Deloitte's group that does actual M&A advisory work is Deloitte corporate finance (DCF). So if you're looking for IB, that's the group that does IB-like functions.
Can anyone talk about working in Deloitte FAS Valuation Associate? Any tips for interview?
