I interned in Business Valuation last summer and will be returning to the group for full-time in the near future. Interviews were primarily behavioral, though I was asked a few technical questions related to my prior experience. If you have any further questions related to the job or interview, feel free to ask or PM me.

Can we try and keep as much of the non-personal information available to the members here and avoid PMs as much as possible? I understand not everyone wants to advertise where they work, etc. but it seems like a lot of posts get pushed to PMs which sort of circumvents the intent of having a forum.

Thanks for the info you provided jordock. I am also curious to hear some responses, so if anyone else has something to add please do.

Regards

The work in Business Valuation is primarily concerned with post-merger FASB 141 (Purchase Price Allocation) and 142 (Intangible Asset Valuation) valuations. Other valuations performed include 409a stock option valuation and occasional pre-deal valuations for audit clients who require a fairness opinion on a potential acquisition target. You will gain experience valuing intangible assets and securities using DCF valuation, the market approach, etc. You will develop strong modeling skills but will not gain any pitch experience like you would in investment banking.
