Disclosing to one bank that you have already signed

I was fortunate to land my top choice for SA IBD and I naturally signed with them.
Last night an associate from a top BB calls me and invites me for their superday (didn't have 1st or 2nd round) for this Friday. I hesitated to tell him on spot that I am out of the recruiting process for now, and asked if I can call back or email.

I emailed him telling that I committed to a different bank, but would love to stay in touch. He emails me saying 'best of luck' and 'which bank did you sign with?', and that's all.

I know this sounds very paranoid, but is this a usual thing? I know they ask whether one has other offers during the interview process. But I haven't even interviewed with these guys... Did he do it out of pure curiosity?

Thanks for the reply. Over the phone he seemed a little too assertive/aggressive, so I guess I didn't want to face something like "You reject us for xxx?" question...

I had the EXACT same experience yesterday and I'm guessing it was the same BB. I hadn't interviewed with them at all and my phone rings with an invitation to a superday on Friday. I did the same thing and explained that I had already accepted, to which he said, "That's okay, would you still like to interview?" I explained to him that I felt like I would be wasting a spot for someone else because I wouldn't feel comfortable backing out of the commitment I had already made with another bank and he said to please contact them if I changed my mind in the future. It all seemed very odd and unlike anything I have experienced in the recruiting process so far.

It just means they liked you a lot. Pretty cool, if you think about it.
