Duff & Phelps - Kroll?
Does anyone have any insight into the Kroll side of Duff and Phelps they have some restructuring postings up. Can’t understand if they are acting as the banking side of D&P. Thought D&P had an IB team? Any insight on Kroll would be appreciated. Comp, exits, reputation most importantly.
Thanks!
I believe they are rebranding the entire firm to Kroll.
Know the team well. They have done a fair bit around valuation for debtors - i.e. Neiman Marcus. Feel free to PM me, one of the seniors of the team is a very good friend.
What are these guys known for on the IB side? I thought they were more of an asset appraiser/valuation business.
They’re definitely known as a valuation / transaction opinions shop but I believe they do a lot of M&A within their CF department
Interested as well. Got reached out to by their RX arm and would appreciate insight, if any.
Thank you!
Did an off-cycle internship here last year and can speak a little to the firm.
Duff & Phelps acquired Kroll a couple years back and is now rebranding the entire firm to Kroll.
Don’t know too much about the RX team within the Distressed M&A / special situations group, but the M&A groups operate within Consumer/retail/restaurants/food, Industrials, Aerospace & Defense, Healthcare, Tech, Energy, and Business Services.
Firm has grown quite a bit esp. with the recent acquisition and rebranding. Very active in the LMM, with deals primarily in the 50-300M range. Sometimes they go higher, but don’t frequently approach 500M.
Culture depends on group / office, but in my group there was not a lot of facetime culture and the wlb seemed nice.
Exits also depend on your group and your MD. Some MDs will absolutely go to bat for you, but not typically if you plan on lateraling before your 2 years are up. PE exits are typically sector focused.
Some laterals to other MM shops, some to BBs—depends on the person.
Thanks so much for the insight! Do you have any idea on the comp side?
Had an $85k base for AN1 when I was there but not sure how it scales or about bonuses. Also unsure if they raised salaries along with the rest of the industry
Bump
I heard hours are pretty brutal there (many reviews on glassdoor corroborate this). I had a chance to work with the TMT valuation/advisory guys from DUff, and they were really nice, knowledgeable, and super helpful. Being in a group like that is a great opportunity.
Were u working with the tech valuation group or the tech M&A advisory group? Wondering what the difference in vibes is between the two (if there is one)
I had interviewed there for a vp role in restructuring. I think that group is run by Brian Cullen and he was super cool to talk to. They had hired a lawyer in Ohio I think that the vp would have reported to him.
Everyone I spoke to was very cool and smart. Didnt advance to an offer round, but I told them I wanted at least 250k base and they didn’t blink. No idea on bonus potential there.
I have an analyst interview in restructuring coming up with an MD and a Director there. Would you have any tips / insights to give as to what I should expect? Coming from a RX consulting background and was wondering if this was even for a consulting opportunity or banking...which the HR didn't verify / confirm at all. Thank you in advance!
