First year comp...

I'm trying to figure out what the first year comp is for someone coming out of undergrad and going into PE? The firm is small, not in NYC (think: Miami, Dallas, Atlanta, Charlotte) has a bit over 100mm AUM, and just a few partners.

I assume that it would be very similar to a first year IB analyst, is that pretty accurate?

If anyone knows personally, or has a friend that entered PE right out of undergrad that can comment would be great. Thanks.

Regards

Thanks for the info. I realize this is a rather ambiguous question which has a lot of variables so I appreciate your effort.

I am mainly just trying to get a good idea of pay for someone coming out of undergrad, which is tough to say the least. I have found numbers for private equity analysts but I imagine most of those numbers reflect 2 previous years of IB experience, so would be on par with what the candidate would have received if they stayed in IB.

If any one else has any additional info that would be great.

Thanks again.

That is a small fund. I would not at all expect that 1st year pay out of undergrad would be similar to 1st year IB. What model21 posted sounds about right. But really, it could vary quite a bit at a small fund like that. All depends on the partners' attitudes about junior pay. Not going to be institutional at all. And will be loosely tied to general market.
