Follow a good boss or do my own thing?
Curious to hear what everyone would do. To keep it short: I'm in my third and final rotation in an FLDP. we'll be placed as Senior Analysts throughout the company in the summer.
My boss in my first FP&A rotation was awesome; challenged the status-quo, put my in a good position to succeed , allowed me to develop a reputation for myself, extremely smart (CPA/CFA) and willing to teach, and didn't value face time as long as your work got done. With that being said, I've heard that this boss may be moving to a new FP&A group at the company and it is VERY industry specific. Although we've kept in touch since my first rotation ended, he put a random coffee on my calendar next week to 'catch-up' and I have a feeling he'd want to talk about my senior spot.
I've made it an effort in my rotations to keep them general and applicable across a range of industries in case I ever decide to jump ship, however, I really like working for this guy and definitely think he can help me develop/learn faster than other managers I've had. I was looking into Corporate Development/Strategy, or Investments as possible senior spots, and ERM as kind of a backup.
What do you guys think? Follow the Good Boss or go out on my own?
