Futures Sales Trading

Does anyone have any insight on futures sales trading within a BB? Would anyone recommend it as a good area to go into- can it be treated as a stepping stone into trading or is it a dead end? Have long term goal of becoming a PM. Have macro strategy (research) background. The considerable increase in comp is very tempting especially if it can be treated as a stepping stone to a trading desk.

If you have goals of becoming a Portfolio Manager, I would say Sales and Trading is on the opposite side of the spectrum. I would spend your time and energy looking at buy side research, or even sell side.

If you're in macro research, stay in macro research. Futures sales/trading is more or less a brokerage service offered by BBs. Moving to a proper macro trading desk (swaps, FX options, treasuries), might be a sensible move though.
