Getting into Infrastructure PE

Hi all,

I’m an incoming analyst working in IB next year, and I’ve recently become really interested in doing Infra PE. However, I’d imagine my coverage group (FIG) is not super well positioned for exits into the space. If infra PE is my next goal, should I try lateraling into a different IB group like energy/infra coverage? Is it possible to break into the space without an energy/infra background?
