Best Response

I had a HireView first round for the Securities Summer Analyst role a few weeks back, so I'm not sure how similar it'll be, but here's my experience:

Format: 5-7 Questions. A pre-recorded prompt is displayed on the screen. You are given 30 seconds to prepare and 2 minutes to respond.

Questions: Mostly behavioral and situational: "Name a time when you had a difficult problem, how did you solve it, what were the results?" "Describe a time when you led a team" "Why Goldman/ why this role" "What qualities would make you a good fit for our culture/ this particular role" then one about a situation with an ethical dilemma. The only relatively technical question I faced was "describe a current political or economic trend and how it affects a particular equity sector/ commodity/ currency/ fixed income". Nothing too difficult at all.

Result: I made it through the first round, didn't get past the superday.

Practice speaking on the phone. I can't tell you how many people I've talked to on the phone that if I was interviewing I would ding because they mumble.

ThreeDotthanks and what kind of questions are you asking?

Haha I don't do interviews, I was talking about just average people who call me. What are you interviewing for? Sales or trading?
