is GS 5 days a week back in office now? or still partially WFH?
No idea as of yet. Maybe someone else can chime in
Cannot confirm exact comp figures but GS Firmwide Strategy is essentially a Corporate Development role (internal M&A). Therefore, I would imagine that comp and culture would be more similar to a traditional F500 Corporate Development job than it would be to the IBD at GS. I would definitely expect bonuses at Firmwide Strat to be substantially lower than IBD since its not a revenue generator (much like Corp Dev at F500 firms) -- albeit similar base salaries. That's not to say that it isn't competitive however, as I've seen many ex-bankers, consultants, and research analysts lateral over to Firmwide Strategy at GS, mostly due to the better work-life-balance.
Tread with caution. My friend interned there over the summer, and the experience sounds pretty awful. They are corpdev so when they hire more than a handful of you, it's hard for all of you to have a return offer. Not specific to this team but I'm an SA in IB at GS and can attest that elbows are sharp at GS. I imagine it can be more cutthroat in Firmwide Strategy where the team is lean and led by GS FIG bankers. You need to look beyond the nice facade people have and act accordingly.
Care to give examples of elbows being sharp at GS? Hear this a lot but no concrete examples and hard to visualize coming from an EB
