Has anyone pivoted from IB -> Sales Strategy & Operations roles?
I'm currently in the screen process for a Sales Strategy & Operations role for a top software company in the Bay Area. I looked at the current employees in these roles and 99% of them come from IB backgrounds. Has anyone here been through the interview / candidacy process for these types of roles? Would love some insight on what skills they're looking for, case study prep, etc.
Is this company a Series C-level startup or a major corporation?
Major corporation (multi-billion in revenue), widely recognized brand
I recently left banking and interviewed for a few sales (or pure) strategy & ops positions. Interviews were largely case-based and required some form of data challenge + presentation of results to a panel. One had an additional SQL test, another had an Excel test. I personally found skimming through some consulting case guides and practicing applying the frameworks helpful for the interviews.
What was your case study about (just as an example of types of things they're looking for)? Did the panel pick apart your presentation? What types of follow-ups did they ask?
