Hedge Funds in Dallas/Fort Worth

Good Evening,

I am searching for advice if anyone knows any Hedge Funds in the DFW region that will hire straight out of undergrad. I'm currently a senior finance major and would love to get my foot in the door however possible. Thanks

While there are a fair amount of funds in Dallas, both pods and single-manager set-ups, I would be incredibly surprised if any hired out of undergrad.

There are multiple threads on this site tackling this exact question, and the answers are all the same: go to a bank in either IB or ER, learn and develop the necessary skills then attempt to make the jump. I think I've even said this before on one of the aforementioned threads: it's not impossible, but highly improbable. Those couple of people that achieved this goal are the exception and not the rule.

Good luck.

jrt336I know that some people do IBD in Texas or NY and later move to HFs in Dallas. I'm sure a move from Atlanta would be possible, but it's probably not as common. A lot of the people who come to Dallas from NY have ties to Texas too-grew up there or went to schools like UT.
I thought about doing BB IBD in Houston because I'm from Texas, but to be honest, energy is not my cup of tea at all. I'm a lot more interested in TMT and Retail. So I guess I should continue focusing on NYC banks then, huh?

Hey if you can survive for 2 years in new york and do a BB banking analyst job it shouldn't be that hard to get back to a L / S hedge fund in TX. You just need to let the head hunters know your preferences. Given most people are not interested in moving to Texas you should have a pretty good shot. As, others mentioned working at a BB in TX (normally in natural resources group) would be another good way to get in the door.
