Help: Asking MD for PE internship

Hey guys, I met an MD at a well-known fund that’s been very busy about a year ago. We had a phone call which went very well and haven’t touched base since. I would like to do an off cycle internship at this fund, do you have any advice on how to make the ask? Doesn’t look like they have taken off cycle interns in the past but since he’s an MD he might be able to pull some strings ? Thanks.
