How to withdraw from an interview process done through a headhunter

I interviewed first round with a firm and want to withdraw. It wasn't a good fit and I have other things in the mix. I'm going to email the headhunter and say I'd like to withdraw because I didn't think it was a good fit. Is that the best way to phrase it or do I say something else? I would like to preserve the headhunter relationship.

Thanks!

I'd just thank them for sharing the opportunity with you and that you enjoyed speaking with the firm, but that you'd like to withdraw from the process as you don't think it's the best fit for your current interests

Email them asking for a call and deliver the message over the phone. Yes, it could be done through an email but if you want to preserve the relationship, a two-minute conversation won't hurt. Thank them for considering you for the role and their time.

Get a Ka-Bar and cut off the umbilical cord that the headhunter has attached to you, drawing the life out of you.

The headhunter will scream "noooooo but you have to do this!!! I need this!!!!" You must resist.
