HSW MBA Summer for Upper MM / Megafund PE?

I’m currently a first year at HSW coming from an industrials focused UMM firm (think CD&R/MDP/LG). I’m planning on recruiting for UMM or MF PE post-MBA but am debating accepting a tech PM role at a FAANG company for the summer. It’s not really related to what I want to do FT but it seems like interesting work at a big name company. Am I shooting myself in the foot by not doing PE for the summer? What concerns me is that it seems like a lot of the firms I’m interested in are getting more and more structured and sourcing FT VPs from their summer programs. On the flip side, FAANG could be a great learning opportunity, especially since I have pre-MBA PE experience but haven’t had much exposure to product / strategic work and it could be an interesting discussion point in future interviews. Anyone have any insights on how to think about this?
