IBD vs PE
Was reading the trending "A2A" thread and was curious to hear the forum's thoughts on IBD vs PE. Definitely seems like most of the top analysts go to PE but was wondering if more senior people could elaborate on some of the pros and cons of each
This has been covered many times on the forum and I would argue the roles can be different enough that a true comparison cannot be made.
One role is investing - PE (long time horizons) One role is Brokerage - IB (short time horizons and sales)
A lot of people obsess over PE because they believe that it will lead to "more" money than IB. Realistically you'll be in the 1% if you are in either role.
In IBD you ask questions that have already been answered. In PE you use the search bar and find out for yourself. Only difference.
Boom Roasted.
Real men go to IB, people with a weak mind go to PE
Can confirm that I am of weak mind and will.
I am glad that i have a weak mind (=
