In Way Over My Head - Desperately Seeking Advice
See my previous threads on the situation I have so aptly landed myself in. Anyways, I landed a phone screen through a cold email with what I thought was an investment consultant group. Turns out they are a private equity group and they want me for an associate level position in alternative assets. I have 6 months experience in real estate acquisitions. All I know about alternatives and structured debt is what I studied in CFA L1.
I say structured debt because this firm did have an open position for an associate where they wanted 6mo - 2yrs experience with waterfall structure modeling. However, that job posting has since been removed. Anyways, after passing the phone screen I was asked to create a model and write up a report. I asked "on what?" and the reply was "whatever you want". So I desperately need advice on what type of model they would be looking for. It is due by Monday.
I can build from scratch a pretty solid DCF model with peer comps used for target capital structure. But I am not sure if that is sufficient for this position. If anyone has any advice on what I can build, I will be forever grateful. Thank you.
Why not play to your strengths? If you have more experience with DCFs then use it. I would stay away from LBOs as that’s probably what PE seniors know best.
