Insights on Accel-KKR

Could you perhaps share your thoughts on Accel-KKR when it comes to quality of the team and culture? Looking at both US offices and London. Also comp would be really interesting - is it on par with Vista, TB, Apax and alikes?

Thanks a lot!

Great firm and friendly people, can only speak to the folks in the Menlo office but I've heard the Atlanta guys are pretty laid back. All of them are smart as hell with a bit more background diversity in terms of schools than the other shops you mentioned. Split focus between buyout and growth PE for software and software-enabled services companies. Compensation at the junior levels is on par or slightly below TB/Vista but I would imagine scales to be equal to that of either, maybe still slightly below TB. I don't know their actual fund return numbers but I'd imagine they're pretty regularly placing in the top quartile with how their raises have been going. I can't remember who but it was either them or Vista that started the trend of tech PE firms having their own internal consulting group, so the PE professionals are pretty much pure execution focus unless it's a senior guy sitting on the board or in a director position for the portco. One thing worth noting is they do have a split between execution and sourcing/BD at the junior level unlike Vista/TB which are purely execution focused. If you look at Vista and TB as tier 1 (since between the two they dominate something like 60%+ of the enterprise buyout space) I'd put these guys at maybe tier 1.5 just because they're smaller by a significant margin, but the quality of thesenior people I would consider equal.
