Internal PE at banks

I'm interested in learning more about private equity arms of IBs, both BB and MM.boutique banks (GS PIA vs. Baird Capital for example). What is the recruiting process for these (do they take analysts from their bank or hire externally?) and what is the difference between working there vs. a standalone PE firm.

Goldman PIA will actually go into sellside processes and do traditional LBOs. Granted my datapoint is a sellside from like 2 yrs ago that they were in final round.

MS has a middlemarket platform that has standalone funds. JPM spun their business out though I always forget the name (it's big just never remember the origin stories).

Not sure on The rest of the BBs. One of Baird/Blair does have a standalone platform always forget which. Wanna say Blair has a decent standalone for the Midwest

Noelia has a small one as does Greenhill
