Jamie Dimon for treasury secretary? Thoughts? Cares? Concerns?

Chief Executive Jamie Dimon may still be in the running to become U.S. Treasury secretary, Fox Business Network reporters said on Wednesday, casting a cloud of uncertainty over the nation's largest bank.After Fox anchor Maria Bartiromo tweeted that Dimon "will get" the position, her colleague Charles Gasparino tweeted that Dimon does not want the job but would be willing to play an advisory role.
Bartiromo later said that Steve Mnuchin, a former Goldman Sachs Group Inc partner who was campaign finance manager for President-elect Donald Trump, is also a contender and that a decision will be made at a meeting on Thursday.
A Trump transition team source told Reuters that Dimon is "pitching hard" for the Treasury role. Another source said Dimon was not interested in the job. Both spoke on condition of anonymity.

I think that the bottom line is that nobody knows who the pick will be. I'm fairly certain that even Trump doesn't know who to nominate for his administration.
So weird. Dimon is reported as saying both he's not a good fit for the spot and pitching hard.
Why on earth would he want that pay cut?
He's getting old - he probably wants to retire. This job would allow him to sell his shares without paying any taxes.

That's the incentive so that people that work in the private sector can join the government. Hank Paulson saved $50mm from this tax break.
Tax on the capital gains portion of the stock comp he's picked up over the years can be deferred as long as the sales proceeds are reinvested into certain government securities. Hank Paulson did the same back in the day when he took over the Treasury.
Still gonna be taxed eventually, but he could probably pull a 7-8 figure benefit out of it depending on how much he's got stored away in JPM shares.

I heard that Barron Trump is being considered for Secretary of State. I know he's only 10 but I'm sure he'll figure it out, it's not rockit science. He's pretty sharp, a fantastic guy, really great guy
