Strong, especially in HC. Some have top exits into PE, most will try to lateral to a BB as the jump to the buyside can be made as an associate 1/2 in Europe.
Just use LinkedIn, typing Jefferies + Buyside firm name, and choose UK as a location. You could have a good knowledge of exits fairly easily if you do this.
Thanks. Where would their HC team stack up in comparison to some of the other strong HC teams? Would you say it's sort of in-line with some of the EB's, such as Rothschild or LAZ?
Nowhere close to EBs. Don't get me wrong it's the best group at Jefferies London, deal flow is the best but a lot of them are equity offerings. Around 60-70% are M&A which is very nice. You'll get worked extremely hard, and I mean frequent 2-3am, weekends.
What makes them not EBs level is deal size, almost all middle-market, below 1bn. You won't see them on the blockbuster names too frequently. I personally know a few analysts in the past few years' classes.
Thanks! Makes sense. Did your friends seem to like the experience?
Jefferies is indeed a good shop but the reputation of Rothschild and Lazard in Europe is way superior
Makes complete sense given they're both European based. Would you say Jefferies is closer to a top American MM such as Baird or William Blair or an American EB such as Greenhill or Moelis.
Roths US = Jefferies EU, Roths EU = Jefferies US. Jefferies focuses on Upper MM deals. Most of them will be in the $500M-2Bn range Lazard and Rothschild will be better.
Compared to other lower tier European/Asian banks such as BNP, Nomura, SocGen, RBS, would Jefferies London be considered as a better choice?
