Job hunting e-mail between Christmas & New Year's (Europe)

I am currently looking for a new position within some boutiques (I am based in Europe). I wonder what is the mail etiquette for those holidays.

I have up to 5 companies with whom I had conversations just before X-Mas and haven't heard back from any of them. Some companies are based in London, others in continental Europe. It has never happened anything like this to me before, yet I have never looked for a job in this time of the year.

Based on my Excel:

Company A: 19-DEC: last email (we had a couple before) - No reply yet.
Company B: 19-DEC: last phone call (we had a couple before) - I should call them after Holidays.
Company C: 19-DEC: last email (we had a couple of long phone conversations before) - No reply yet.
Company D: 23-DEC: last email (we had a couple before) - No reply yet -- He wants to have a phone interview first week of January (5-9)
Company E: 23-DEC: last email (we had a couple before) - No reply yet.

A was an email reminder.

D was to set the interview date

C & E were long emails were they wanted me to discuss some stuff.

My options are:

A. Email back them today (30-DEC).

B. Wait until January 5 or 6.

Also, at least 3 of those guys are from another country to where they live so I assume they could take holidays. January 1st is Thursday so I doubt many people will work on the 2nd anyway.

What is the etiquette?

not saying that this is the 'etiquette' but I would wait until jan 8 or 9 to reach out. With so many people travelling around the holidays and many companies having Jan 1 as a holiday, it is very likely that some or many of the decision makers would be out of office. until jan 5 (given that jan 1 is so close the weekend).

To me, the above would show your higher EQ in terms of understanding that the world does not stop just because you are in the middle of recruiting.

That said, dropping a brief & pleasant email now does not mean that they would reject you just for that - unless the hiring manager/interviewer is a psycho - in which case you should not be working there anyway.

sorry about the long answer, to summarize: do what feels right

MBA_junkie.

Thanks for your reply.

I just went ahead and sent a very brief reminder to "D" (due to the time constraints) and I am keeping ABCE for January.

Happy New Year.
