Yep, same situation right here, I was hoping to see a post like me. I talked to a recruiter and she forwarded my resume to the group that I was most interested in, haven't heard back yet.

 

I go to a "target" school for Key and talked to the recruiting captains, so I might have a different situation.

 

it's group dependent, but they tend to be easy. the next round of interviews is within the next 2 weeks, so if you don't know the technicals right now, you will be screwed no matter what

 

What are achievable SA to FT laterals from Keybanc? Chances at MM/BB/EB?

 

I heard it depends a lot on location. Are you in CHI/CLE/NY? Obviously your odds of lateraling to MM/BB/EB are higher if you are in Chicago/NY because you are closer to those other firms whereas if you are in Cleveland, you are more limited. I don't think the fact that HQ is in Cleveland matters much. Either way, it is going to take a lot of work, but definitely not impossible.

 

I interned at Key a long time ago and then went FT at a MM bank in Chicago that was a much better fit for me. I have several friends that did 1 year and lateraled somewhere else as well. It's a good addition to your resume if this is your goal, but I was able to get the FT somewhere else because I networked my ass off.

As someone stated, focus on getting an SA offer, then doing well and getting a return offer for FT. If you don't do those things first, you don't have shit to leverage for somewhere else.

I have a series of interviews in a super day format with a coverage team in CLE. I also know for a fact that some teams are moving much more slowly in terms of recruiting at CLE.

 

Mine was unique in comparison to the rest of the groups in terms of what they wanted, but overall, it is very fit-based.

 

If you had 3-4 interviews than it was a Superday. If you had one 30 min. call than it wasn't a Superday. At least that's the case for the groups that I have been interviewing with.

Just got rejected. Feel so sad. A recruiter told me my technicals were too weak.

 

Damn, sorry to hear. At least you know what you need to work on. Start studying now and hammering down the technicals. You got this.

 

For people interested - just to shed light on the process. I had SD for M&A on Monday and got a call on Tuesday (8.04) with an offer. I know other offices/groups are on different timeline. Best of luck.

 

4 interviews: 2 md's, vp, associate last week - received offer within 24 hrs.
