Leaving IB After 1 Year for PE Analyst Role
Hey guys–so I am working at a BB tech group out in SF as a first-year analyst. I am currently interviewing with Accel-KKR, Battery Ventures and Spectrum Equity. These are the types of places that I would want to end up at anyways after a full two years in banking. Any thoughts on leaving banking after a year and moving to a sourcing-heavy analyst role at one of these shops?
First thing I’d do if I were you would to be look at their associate class and see how many were promoted analysts from the frim and how many were brought in from 2 years of IB.
Doesn’t matter what they tell you - it matters who they’re filling their associate class with (PE analysts or IB analysts)
One of these is not like the others
I know all three are very different. Within AKKR and Battery you can work on anything from early-stage to buyout and it all depends on what team you get on. I would love to hear your thoughts on the three.
