  1. do you Linkedin search and see how many Liberty alums are working in finance.
  2. how much tail do you think you're gonna get at Liberty? that's a huge negative for me.

doesnt matter if they're hot if they arent putting out.

ok in all seriousness, i've never met a Liberty alum. My guess is alums working in finance are probably either in financial advising, corporate finance, or commercial banking. these careers can be excellent but shouldnt be considered "high finance." that said, i could be wrong, so you should do your own research.

throw all the MS you want, but he's right. Yes, "College doesn't matter" and "you should go where you are happy," but Liberty's name and quality of education won't get you shit in the finance world. You probably won't even get through the front door, once they look at your resume, security will escort you from the vicinity of the building

to OP: ND, Yale, Princeton, Harvard, Penn, Wharton, Dartmouth, Oxbridge, etc. are all pretty conservative

Avoid: UC Berkeley, Chicago, Brown/Columbia/Yale etc (so much affirmative action and blacks/mexicans with 3.6s in high school)

Apply to target/semi-target schools. Doesn't get simpler than that. Liberty Uni is a non-target and will hinder your opportunities for high-finance regardless of what people say on here.

If you want a conservative/religious school then go to Notre Dame, Georgetown or some top private.

Oh just noticed LU is located in Virginia. Have you considered William & Mary or Washington & Lee? Both have conservative culture and have very loyal alumni when it comes to IB. UVA is a bigger school so not as conservative but is a target for high-finance.

Georgetown is probably the best bet

This topic is relevant because I am a Hillsdale College Alum

  1. Know where (industry/geography) you want to end up and cross reference the entire alumni network. You are going to go through rigorous BS with a university like that (as enjoyable as it may be) so its up to you to take advantage of the alumni if they match your goal(s).

  2. This is only relevant to Hillsdale, but the ratio of highly successful people in consulting, high finance, finance is high for how small the college is. Take with a grain of salt.

  3. Liberty University is probably the least prestigious of all the conservative and religious schools that I know of (perhaps Biola/APU in southern california are worse, for comparison) Stay away from ND (have yet to meet a single alumni happy with what they paid for, plus the doctrine).

Jacoby n Myers:
Stay away from ND (have yet to meet a single alumni happy with what they paid for, plus the doctrine).

Seriously? I can't name an alumni base more pleased with itself...

Liberty is best known for being so Christian that it's out of step with mainstream values. I think that could work against you in a big way as you try to apply for jobs. Right or wrong, you'll get some weird looks and need to convince people you're allowed to see R-rated movies.

Second this. I’m someone with center right theological views, Koch brothers style conservative political views, and fairly active in my reasonably conservative mainline Protestant church and to me a degree from liberty would be a major red flag.

Seriously, why would someone want to surround themselves with a bunch of homeschooled wiener kids who think the world is 6000 years old.
