I'm beginning my MRED in the Fall, and am starting to wind up my networking efforts. I figured a CapIQ screen of every developer in the nation sorted by State/City would probably be a good start. I hope that anyone else in a similar situation finds this useful. Let me know if you have any trouble accessing the file.

It's weirdly incomplete for such an extensive list. Half the D.C. developers I know aren't on this list.
Yeah the REIT portion is very weak. Missing almost all of the Top 10.
agreed, I searched for a handful of major developers in the mid-Atlantic, none of which are on this list.

Just ran the numbers and California has 14.5% of the nations development companies (923) according to this list
So it's right in line with their GDP & population as a % of US total
That doesn't mean very much. The largest developers build in multiple cities. Also, California tends to be more project oriented (SPEs) while developers in other parts of the country are more enterprise oriented.
Better to look at construction dollars contributed.

It won't give you every firm, but use the WSO search tool for the PERE 50. It's a good place to start.

I used S&P Capital IQ to screen for all the developers in the nation.
